Say howdy to our new Environmental Education Intern, Alexa!

As a Buffalo native, I spent my childhood observing local animals, fishing, and playing outdoor sports. I later became accustomed to many nature trails, including Reinstein’s. I have always been curious and eager to learn. My fondness for nature and wildlife has encouraged me to pursue work in the environmental field. I graduated from Canisius University in 2025 with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Environmental Sustainability in the Honors Program. In my undergrad, the ecology and conservation classes I took have solidified my knowledge of flora and fauna, with a particular love for birds. Working as a field technician, teaching assistant, educator and research assistant has helped me gain the skills needed to tackle my work as an intern. I hope to instill in youth the desire to learn new things. I encourage everyone to pause and observe things in nature that often go unnoticed. These things may be small, but they are integral to our ecosystems. In my free time, you can find me chasing rare birds in woods and marshes across the county. I also enjoy singing, acting and hiking.
