3 Common Myths About Challenging Behavior
Many of us were taught things about behavior that simply aren’t supported by what we know today.
❌ Myth #1: They’re just looking for attention.
✔ Reality: Every child needs connection. Often what looks like “attention-seeking” is actually connection-seeking.
❌ Myth #2: If I accommodate them, they’ll never learn.
✔ Reality: Support helps children build the skills they need to eventually become independent.
❌ Myth #3: They know better—they’re choosing not to.
✔ Reality: Many children struggle to access skills consistently when stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or dysregulated.

📚 Insider Tip Tuesday
Reading should be fun, not feel like work! Follow your child’s interests, read together, use silly voices, and keep the experience positive and pressure-free.
Small, enjoyable reading moments can help build confidence and a lifelong love of reading. 💙

Happy Summer! School is out… and for many families, that means a lot of transition all at once. ☀️
Different routines.
Different expectations.
Travel. Camps. Visitors. Less structure. More unpredictability.
While summer can bring excitement and freedom, it can also feel overwhelming for many neurodivergent kids (and honestly, parents too). If things feel a little “off” right now, you are not doing anything wrong.
Sometimes the most supportive things we can offer are:
🌿 predictable rhythms
🌿 extra downtime
🌿 sensory regulation
🌿 preparation before transitions
🌿 lowered pressure
🌿 connection over perfection
This season does not have to look perfect to be meaningful. Some of the best summer moments happen in the quiet, simple, connected parts of the day. 💛
