It’s important to surround yourself with neutral reminders and affirmations that keep you grounded and uplifted, especially during these wild times! Whether on your wall or on your phone, these small reminders can make a big difference in your mindset.

I use this screensaver on my phone to keep a gentle reminder with me every day. Comment “AFFIRMATION” below and I’ll send it for you to use, too!

September is National Su***de Prevention Month- a time to acknowledge those lost to su***de, to share hope with the millions of people who have suicidal thoughts, and to raise awareness about su***de prevention.

Talking about su***de is one of the hardest and most important things we can do. We all benefit from honest conversations about mental health and su***de, because just one conversation can save a life. Studies show that people who are having thoughts of su***de feel immense relief when someone asks them about it in a direct, caring and compassionate way.

If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, please know that you are not alone- I’ve been there, and it's terrifying. YOUR LIFE MATTERS. Your story is not over, and there is help and support available to you.

If you or someone you know has thoughts of su***de, immediate support is available. Call, text or chat 988 to speak with a trained counselor available 24/7/365. If you are in Colorado, you can also text ‘TALK’ to 38255 or call 1-844-493-8255.

Let’s create spaces where people can prioritize their mental health, where their voices can be heard, and where they can find safety, support, and healing. 💜

Hi, everyone! 👋 I’m Jordan Ivey, and I’m a therapist in Denver, Colorado specializing in helping clients achieve a greater connection to themselves and others.

I’m currently taking new telehealth clients across the state of Colorado and accept Anthem, BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and United insurance plans.

One benefit of working with me is that I am a trained crisis professional with a wide range of experience treating suicidality. I’m also a Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, meaning I’ve done around 50 extra training hours to help people engage in safe and stable trauma processing through Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

I offer a free consultation to determine if working with me is a good fit for you. Feel free to schedule your consultation at the link in my bio or send me a DM! Thank you!

Hi, friends! How are you feeling after the long holiday weekend? I woke up this morning feeling like some gentle, neutral affirmations were the right way to start my week.

I’m sure most of you know have heard about positive affirmations, but what about neutral affirmations? Positive affirmations can be great and helpful for many, but I find that it can feel like a huge stretch to say things to myself like, “I’m perfect just the way I am,” or “Life is a wonderful gift,” especially on the first day back at work after a long weekend (when most of us are understandably a little grumpy!) There’s also some evidence that when we try to shift our brains to think the polar opposite of how we feel, it’s not always effective.

Instead, I like to turn to neutral affirmations: statements that remind you to stay balanced, lay off self-criticism and shame, and encourage self-honesty. These statements are neutral, but true. They don’t ask us to totally flip our mindset, but to simply be present with our own experience and feelings today.

Try writing some of your own! Or, find a quiet and comfortable seat, take a deep breath, and repeat the ones I’ve written here.
