Consistent tee height is still one of the simplest ways to be longer and more consistent off the tee.
Most golfers are costing themselves up to 20 yards… because of tee height.
Yes, really.
In controlled testing across all skill levels, simply adjusting tee height produced longer drives — without sacrificing accuracy.
Here’s why:
Modern drivers are bigger than ever, but most golfers still tee it too low.
When you strike the lower portion of the driver face:
• Launch = lower
• Spin = higher
• Distance = lost
That’s the opposite of what you want.
The upper half of the face has more effective loft. For example, a 10.5° driver can measure closer to 13° high on the face.
High-face contact =
• Higher launch
• Lower spin
• More carry
• More total distance
So how do you fix it?
1️⃣ Use impact tape (or Dr. Scholl’s spray) to see where you’re actually striking the ball.
2️⃣ Adjust tee height until you consistently strike the upper half of the face.
3️⃣ Measure that tee height and use marked tees so you can repeat it on the course.
There isn’t one perfect tee height for everyone — it depends on your driver and your swing.
But if you’re not testing it, you’re guessing.
And guessing could be costing you 20 yards.
