Durga, a mother of three in rural Dang, Nepal, once lived in a shelter that collapsed in the rain. Living with a disability and no financial or emotional support, every day was a struggle.

Through NIVAS and Women Development Center (RWDC)'s 'Strengthening Women-Led Families through Safe Housing (SWFH)' program, Durga gained more than a home - she gained identity, security, and hope.

“Now my neighbors respect me, and I feel like the master of my home.”

Today, she lives in a wheelchair-accessible home with proper doors, windows, and a toilet she can reach safely at night. Through NIVAS's livelihood program, Durga will soon be starting a small shop designed directly into her home, advancing her dream of building a better future for her children.
