Wingtip Woodwork

About 2 years ago my brother asked if I'd help him tear down a couple old barns on his property in Dumont, CO so they could expand and remodel their house. I built his family this table as a thank you for all that beautiful old wood.
The table top is a mixture of the siding and roofing. The centerpiece was the header for the doors, loaded up with nails.
The base timber was a floor joist. Flattened on one side and sitting directly on the ground, the floorboards were originally nailed right to it. It was the only one of about a dozen or so that wasn't rotted through.
The 2x4s were the roof rafters.

This massive kitchen island is 5' wide by 8' long with the waterfall return to the floor. Built out of wood I salvaged from my brother's property in the Rocky Mountain town of Dumont, CO. I tried to allow as much of the original character of these over 100 year old planks show through, even leaving in a few of the original nails.
