Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) is one of the most debilitating inflammatory diseases affecting cats, often causing severe oral pain, difficulty eating and grooming, and reduced quality of life.

In the first installment of our Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis Educational Series, we explore the underlying causes of FCGS, including immune dysregulation, viral infection, periodontitis, and changes to the feline oral microbiome. Advances in understanding the immune pathology of FCGS have helped drive the development of targeted therapies, including mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) therapy, which aim to address the disease at its source.
