The Eating Disorder Foundation

For 23 years, EDF has worked to ensure that people affected by eating disorders have access to support, connection, education, and hope. Today, after thoughtful consideration and careful planning, we are sharing the difficult news that EDF will sunset its programs and staffing by August 1.
This decision was not made lightly. In the 23 years since we began as a single support group meeting in a basement, we have seen the landscape of eating disorder support in Colorado and beyond transform dramatically. What once was only a handful of disparate resources has grown into a strong and vibrant network of treatment centers, clinicians, advocates, and community organizations dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders.
Access to support has expanded significantly over that time as well. We are no longer the only organization providing virtual support groups, and through our many valued partners in the Collaborative for Eating Disorders Organizations (CEDO), individuals now have access to support groups, mentorship, helplines, educational programs, advocacy efforts, and other meaningful resources across the country and beyond.
Nonprofit funding has become increasingly competitive in recent years, and communities everywhere are being asked to do more with limited resources. After thoughtful consideration, we believe the most responsible path forward is to ensure those resources are used as effectively as possible across the broader ecosystem of care.
While our programs are ending, support is not. We are committed to helping our community find care and support by connecting individuals with trusted partner organizations. Information about alternative resources and support options will be shared in the coming weeks.
We will also share guidance for donors who wish to continue investing in this important work through aligned organizations carrying the mission forward. If you have already donated to EDF, know that your investment will continue as we ensure that our assets will go toward programs that continue our vision in similar ways.
We are deeply grateful to every person who has attended a support group, volunteered, donated, sponsored, partnered with us, or otherwise been part of the EDF community. What began in a basement became a movement of support, and that impact will continue far beyond EDF itself.
Our heartfelt thanks for an incredible journey,
EDF Board of Directors

Please note that we expect many changes to the support group schedule in June and July while we wind down the program. Please be sure to check our website calendar frequently.
Have a resource that is either local to Colorado or available virtually that you want us to be sure to share with the community? Please send us a message at [email protected] so we can include it in our resource lists (upcoming).

Just announced - our next workshop, in one month!
Did you know that personality disorders often overlap with eating disorders? These co-occurring conditions can complicate treatment and recovery, but both are possible! This workshop is meant for clinicians but could be interesting for anyone.

Did you know?
35.5% of our members identify as neurodivergent.
If that's you, we hope you'll join us at our next Monthly Connections for Neurodivergent Folx on April 29th!
When our brains process, learn, or experience the world differently from what’s considered “typical,” it often appears in the way we feed ourselves and experience just living in a body. Eating disorders and neurodivergence often intersect because they share underlying patterns in how people experience their bodies, emotions, and environment. It’s less about one “causing” the other, and more about overlapping traits and risk factors.
