Happy winter solstice! I finally caught up on my emails today and got all sentimental just now going through photos from styled shoots in the last year or so. This is from the shoot that basically catalyzed 2017 for me. McCall (the photographer behind who shot this image) and I were brainstorming ideas for a simple shoot and I was daydreaming about putting together a small collection of invitation designs from my sketchbook because I wasn't getting hired for the types of projects I wanted to be doing and I felt like it was because my portfolio sucked. I was also worried people would think minimal wasn't 'designed enough' but that's what was speaking to me- minimal approaches to invitation design that emphasized the textural beauty of letterpress. McCall was extremely kind and goes 'why don't you bring a few designs and we can shoot them if there's time at the end'. Those designs were my first collection: Senna, Minna, Beckett, Nico... literally my entire website is from that shoot. Seriously- I had very few invitation projects before that and was mostly freelancing and printing greeting cards. I had a part time job at a wine bar for awhile because I couldn't pay my student loans. And now? I'm a small studio but where I'm at is already absolutely beyond my wildest dreams. I can't even express how grateful I am for this past year and all the amazing people I've gotten to work with. It is SUCH an honor and I pinch myself all.the.damn.time. // Vendor dream team from this shoot- as featured on ... photography: florals: model: via H&MU: food styling:

Featured on today- a BEAUTIFUL styled shoot with deep indigo tones. I loved being a part of this shoot because the vision was so interesting and different. (Talented vendor team outlined below) // These are the menus I designed for this shoot, and they are actually one of my favorite things I designed for a shoot this season. I'm working on an update to my collection for 2018, with a design (possibly 2, still deciding) involving abstract paint strokes like this with a more balanced use of negative space - artful, minimal, and genuinely fun to make. I love that each one is unique. // VENDOR TEAM... Featured on , Photos + Art Direction: Florals: Ribbon + Backdrop: Cake: Models: + H&MU: Menswear: Headpiece: Dress: Table Rental: Studio: Film Lab:

So excited to see this beautiful shoot featured on today!!! The way Madalina captured the light in this shoot is too beautiful for words, Anda absolutely outdid herself with the styling, and those locally foraged florals? Dyyyyyyiiiinnnng.
I used some beautiful .studios paper to wrap the letterpress invites, and tied the wrap closed with some delicate thread to echo the oceanic vibe.

BY FAR my favorite photo-based save the date I've ever designed. These beauties combined giclée printed photos with letterpress printed text on one of my favorite cotton papers that is friendly for both methods. Aside from the cool technically specs I geek out over, I love these because They're a refreshing departure from the cute photo save the dates I see everywhere now (if that's your jam though there are no hard feelings, to each their own 😉). These are a perfect example of creating a mood with a less literal interpretation. Bringing this up now because I'm working on a few save the dates for 2018 weddings and it's on my mind. Lastly, these are my favorite because the bride was SO FREAKING AWESOME to work with. Complete creative freedom and trust, and also such a kind human being. SHE is why I do what I do. It doesn't get any better than that (oh wait, actually, !). Forever grateful to her wedding planner/matchmaker for the referral. // On a separate note, will someone please hire me to do a really, really cool minimalist es**rt card installation on this wall at .events ? This texture is TOO GOOD folks. // Individual photos on save the date taken by (ummmm, how perfect are they for this look and feel?!), this photo of the save the date on the brick wall was taken by my favorite- . Amaaaaazing brick wall is at brand new Denver venue .events , photo styled by me.
