A lot of brands still treat this like a choice: Carousels or Reels.

It’s not.

They solve completely different problems, and expecting one format to carry your entire strategy is usually where things start to fall apart.

Reels are built for reach. They’re fast, easy to consume, and designed to get you in front of people who don’t already know you. That’s where discovery happens.

Carousels do something different. They slow people down. They give you space to explain, add context, and actually show what you know. That’s where understanding and trust start to build.

The issue is most brands lean heavily into one and ignore the other. Either they’re posting Reels nonstop but not giving people anything to stick with, or they’re creating thoughtful content that no one new is seeing.

What tends to work better is using both with intention. Reels to pull people in. Carousels to give them a reason to stay, engage, and come back.
