Why we don't put our name or part numbers on our cams.
Since the 90's, we only put the invoice number on our cams, to protect our customers.
With the majority of our customers being professional race engine builders, we know how important it is, to keep their competitors from finding out what they're running. We've seen it all over the years. Competitors offering a huge deal to winning racers to rebuild their engines, just to get a look at what's inside. Even paying the UPS driver to take pictures of the packing slips on deliveries to rival engine builders. At first, some engine builders would grind the numbers off the back of the cams, but then when the engine came back in for a rebuild, they would forget what the cam was. That's why we only put the invoice number.
If someone calls looking for specs on a cam, we ask them for the invoice number. Then we ask them their name. If their name and phone number doesn't match the invoice, we don't give them any info, and we call the engine builder on the invoice to let him know someone was wanting info on his cam.
At JONES CAM DESIGNS we know you work hard to gain an edge on the competition, and we work just as hard to protect it.
