A Catholic nun named Marija Tatjana Zrno was reportedly stabbed by a migrant in Zagreb, Croatia on Friday, 28 November 2025. Sources said she has been admitted to the Sestre Milosrdnice Hospital Center and is out of danger. Sr. Marija belongs to the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and lives in the convent in Frankopanska. Croatian media reports that she was stabbed outside her convent on Friday afternoon and was admitted in the hospital at around 3 pm with an injury in her abdomen inflicted by a sharp object. Unofficial sources claim that the migrant, who stabbed her, shouted religious slogans. Sister Marija, a football enthusiast, is a nun who considered the sport a means of connecting people, joy, and evangelization. A police investigation is ongoing on the assault.
