The entire structure of the Tumaini School is officially up - we are so close to completion. The classrooms are equipped with chalk boards, two windows and have been prepped for electrical connection. The concrete walls and iron-sheet protected roofs will keep the school safe and weather appropriate.
The easy decision on these details comes from our direct relationship with our project partners Rose and Hesbon. Having boots on the ground and a strong relationship with the citizens of the community that we’re working in is what ALL of the difference. It allows for collaboration on budgets, materials and needs. These relationships are the basis of this entire project and honestly just one of the dopest parts of our lives now.

You remember that feeling when you’re 11 years old - Bases loaded in your best friend’s backyard with a 3 and 2 count and it’s a treehouse homer or bust? The rustling leaves are the crowd, the ghost runner on three is Jeter and it actually kinda didn’t matter if you won or lost because the bike ride home was a brand new race against the streetlights? I used to live for that feeling. Sports, man. Organized, backyard or professional - it did not matter. I lived for it. I feel like a lot of kids did. Then we grow up and we kinda lose that feeling.
This work we do at Crossbar has given me that feeling back. Are we gonna make it? Is this idea a homer or a bust? And how the f am I a 25 year old woman standing in the middle of this multimillion dollar sports complex with a hard hat on. Every single day I kinda feel like I’m standing at the plate with a chance to hit that grand slam. And that’s all thanks to teammates - the long terms ones, the short terms ones and the ones you meet in passing that remind you why you started. All of them have offered a complete labor of love for the good of the game, community or story.
So thank you to our all our teammates, everywhere. From Austin Prario’s backyard when I was 11 to the streets of Rhode Island, Colorado, Oregon and Kenya. This is family. And this is everything. We’re stoked to finish this project so soon. :)

The most recent photo to come back from the Tumaini build. Doors, roof, and walling phases see progress. Approaching 10,441 sq ft.
As a purpose-driven company, this is why we exist. So stoked for the kiddos to have a new place to learn, grow, and one day graduate from.
