Mile High Photo Studio

I was finally able to attend my first F1 race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin. It definitely won't be my last! It's close to impossible to get media credentials, so I was a normal fan/spectator for this incredible event with no special access. All pics were shot from the Turn 4 grandstands.

This is both sad and maddening at the same time. As a motorsports fan and avid photographer, I've had the privilege of shooting races as a second job. I can tell you first hand as an accredited member of the media, photographers are one of the hardest working folks at the track on a weekend. The hustling to find clients to make it worth your while to show up at the track on any particular weekend, selling one-off shots if you happened to be in the right place at the right time, the late night editing to meet a deadline for a publisher. It's the passion and love for the sport and the art that keeps you going and makes it all worth while. It's a shame these small business owners are being treated like this.
