Although everyone should have equal access to the full range of end-of-life care options, many common factors will drive disparities and lead to inequities in end-of-life planning and care.

Racially and ethnically diverse communities, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities are known to face systemic and persistent inequality in end-of-life healthcare. This means these communities are less likely to have the information necessary to be fully empowered to have a death consistent with each one's values and priorities.
