German Inheritance Law

Some evenings you just want to hold on to forever. 🌅 The kids splashing in the shallows, the sky turning orange and pink, that laughter mixing with the waves.

And honestly? It's often in exactly these moments — the whole family together, far from home — that a quiet little thought sneaks in: *what would happen to the kids if something happened to us?*

I know, not exactly vacation vibes. 😅 But I help families with one foot in Germany and one in the U.S. plan their estates, and I see how much peace of mind comes from simply having a will in place.

Without one, the law decides who gets what — and the results are rarely what parents would have wanted. The surviving spouse doesn't automatically inherit everything, courts get involved when children are minors, and for cross-border families it gets even more tangled (two countries, two tax systems, lots of paperwork).

A will isn't morbid. It's one of the most loving things you can do for your family — so that if the worst ever happens, the people you love are protected instead of buried in red tape.

So enjoy the sunsets. Soak up every second. 💛 And when you're back home, maybe make that one appointment you keep putting off.

*Have assets in Germany or live between two countries? Happy to talk it through. (This is general info, not legal advice.)*
