Today, recommended by the amazing Stuart McErlain-Naylor, lecturer at Loughborough University, listened to an interesting podcast (https://open.spotify.com/episode/3jEcrB0TFozV8rqiTIZnSF ), from which some interesting snippets below:

The ‘Sharp Shooter fallacy’ (minute 2:20 onwards): people try to quantify the probability of something after it has happened instead of 'calling the shot' in advance.

In present day language HARKing (defined as presenting a post hoc hypothesis as if it were an a priori one) - see picture!

Or, in science, instead of having a hypothesis and testing it, you collect some data and then you create the hypothesis from the data/results.

Instances exist in golf research too where post-hoc hypotheses are used.
