Confession/story time:

Once upon a time I, craft coffee purist Benjamin Hernandez, worked at Starbucks. I was a pretty...uh, basic boy. Like the shift drink was going to be a frappuccino type of basic. Like the shift drink that was a frappuccino was most definitely going to be a vanilla bean frap with extra vanilla bean powder type deal. Ugh, let me process my shame for a second...

Okay. Processed. One day this super cool finance bro driving a jag came into the store I worked at and ordered a sugar free vanilla iced green tea latte (what we all call 'matcha" now) SHAKEN. I made it for him, watched him sip it knowing he probably made $3,784 in the time it took me to make it, and he strolled out. I said "I gotta drink this elixir of wealth and power", and I made myself one.

And it. was...meh.

Nothing special. Years passed and I left matcha in that memory, and in that starbucks. Until we rolled out our strawberry syrup many years ago and I couldn't resist the urge to try the very treasure I served my customers. I prepped it, steamed my matcha and milk, poured it and.......

it. was. GLORIOUS.

I have been a fervent and proud matcha man ever since (when the black coffee needs a break).
