PMCI Art Collection: Piece 4

Long before PMCI became a reality, there was a dream—and this beautiful piece of artwork was part of that journey.

Created by a talented friend, this painting became the image I chose for some of PMCI’s very first business cards as I explored the possibility of starting a conservation organization focused on Purple Martins.

Today, the original artwork hangs in my home as a daily reminder of how far we’ve come. What once seemed like a distant dream has grown into a thriving conservation initiative working with schools, communities, and partners across Louisiana to protect Purple Martins and inspire the next generation of conservationists.

Sometimes a piece of art is more than something beautiful to display—it becomes a symbol of where you started and a reminder that dreams really can take flight.

PMCI Art Collection: Piece 3

Ten years ago, this mural was painted on my daughter’s bedroom wall. She was just five years old then—full of curiosity, imagination, and always by my side. Back then, there was no PMCI, no conservation programs, no school partnerships, and no idea of the journey that lay ahead.

Today, this room serves as my office, but this artwork remains as a beautiful reminder of those early days.

Looking at it now, I can’t help but smile at how life comes full circle. What started as a little girl’s room with birds painted on the wall eventually became the place where ideas for conservation, education, and community engagement would take flight.

Some artwork is more than paint on a wall—it’s a snapshot of a moment in time and a reminder of how far we’ve come.

PMCI Art Collection: Piece 2

Art has a unique way of telling a story, and this piece celebrates the beauty of conservation, wildlife, and the habitats we work so hard to protect. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of warm spring mornings, returning martins, and the joy that nature brings.

Well to our surprise our Barn Swallows are on their second nest! We’ve seen mama bird diligently sitting on the eggs with her partner no where to be seen. We’re not sure if she’ll be raising this new family on her own, but we’ll be keeping watch to ensure success!

Patience pays off!

The first year at Brusly High School was quiet, but this second season brought an exciting milestone — two Purple Martin pairs have successfully nested on campus! Watching these tiny nestlings grow is a reminder that conservation takes time, consistency, and hope.

We’re excited to see Brusly High School officially on the map as a Purple Martin conservation site and can’t wait to see what future seasons bring!
