For the past 5 months we’ve been renovating a historic home in a historic neighborhood in Delray Beach, Florida. IWe hope this will be our forever family home. It’s been an arduous process filled with highs and lows, mostly highs. I got to pick all the materials I loved and want to live in. I couldn’t have done this home, at this time, without Ruben. We work together so well. We back up each other’s crazy thoughts. The outcome usually surprises both of us most of the time.
Here we converted a traditional brick fireplace to an electric fireplace. Being in Florida, you don’t use the fireplace that often and having a grandson and a gradaughter on the way, I thought it would be safer. First Ruben built a facade out of drywall. The we covered the exterior with 24”x48” tile that resembles oxidized metal. It gives an interesting texture to the living room. Ruben built a small hearth that mirrors the beam ceilings in the family room. Wow what a change!
Over the next few weeks we’ll share how our house it’s transitioning. We have a ways to go but I am truly enjoying every minute of this journey. I’m ready to do it all over again! Don’t tell my husband that😊
