Is the PSA test really the best way to screen for prostate cancer? Not by itself. A high PSA is suspicious, but it can be raised by many ordinary things, including an enlarged prostate, an infection, even a recent bike ride, so on its own it can't tell you whether a biopsy is truly needed. The screening pathway is evolving to answer that question more precisely.

For men with low- to intermediate-risk prostate cancer, choosing between active surveillance and nerve-sparing surgery has real consequences for daily life.
