Is the PSA test really the best way to screen for prostate cancer? Not by itself. A high PSA is suspicious, but it can be raised by many ordinary things, including an enlarged prostate, an infection, even a recent bike ride, so on its own it can't tell you whether a biopsy is truly needed.
