DEVO. 06.03.26

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

- ALL THINGS, Not “Some things”!’
- This was Jesus’ response when the disciples asked him “who in the world can be saved?”
- The disciples were looking at things through human eyes and an earthly perspective but Jesus was teaching them to look with their spiritual eyes.
- A man came up to Jesus asking Him “ what must I do to be saved?”
- The man’s commitment may shock you because his obedience to Gods law looks better than most of ours.
- He had obeyed all of the commandments.
- He was a good person.
- But the man had one problem.
- He had great wealth.
- The problem was not that he had great wealth, but that his wealth had him.
- His trust in his wealth made it hard for him to trust in Jesus
- He could rely and trust on his wealth.
- It probably had taken him a lot of hard work to build that wealth
- He may have sacrificed a lot to obtain that wealth.
- Wealth was his security.
- He had provision, but he did not have eternal provision
- He had comfort but He did not know the Comforter!
- Could he release all that he possessed in order to possess the one thing he truly needed?
- Unfortunately, verse 22 says, “the man’s face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.”
- He said “No” to Jesus.
- He couldn’t let go of what He had in order to grab ahold of what he needed more than anything else.
- The one thing I noticed in Uganda was that they have very little! ‭
- They don’t have great houses, cars, iPhones or money.
- But they have one thing that we need!
- True Joy!
- You can see it in their eyes!
- They have Jesus and that’s all that they need.
- They know what it means to say, “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬)
- I’m not telling you to be poor. That’s not the answer.
- The answer is Jesus!
- Does He have your heart or has your own self reliance and trust blurred that?
- Can you trust Jesus with everything?
- If you lost all of your “Things” would you still trust and rely on Jesus?
- Could you let go of everything and walk away with Jesus?
- It is possible!
- Jesus says “All things are possible”
- Today, make a fresh commitment to Jesus!
- Lose the control you have over your life and let the Spirit of God have control over you!
- Have a great Wednesday!

“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” (Mark 9:50)

- Don’t lose your saltiness!
- Salt is used to describe a faithful and distinct Christian life!
- The life of a believer should be a life that stands out!
- You need to flavor the world around you for good, and not be flavored by the world.
- Every Christian needs to be set apart and have Spiritual Integrity.
- Integrity means, “who you are when no one is looking.”
- A believer’s life should be distinct.
- You should not look like or act like the world.
- You should be passionate about Jesus and following His ways.
- In Jesus’ time, salt was used to preserve food, add flavor and even be a symbol of covenant loyalty.
- But Jesus is saying that the moment you lose your zeal, your distinctiveness and your moral compass, you become ineffective in representing Jesus Christ.
- Don’t be surprised when the world around you tries to pull you away from Christ and being a person of integrity.
- The apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 5:17 that our “Sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other.
- It says that the flesh is constantly fighting the Spirit.
- That means that every time you take a step in the direction of the Spirit, there will be an opposing force that tries to pull you back toward ungodly ways.
- When you move towards being joyful, there will always be a pull towards being despondent and unhappy.
- When you try to love, there will always be a pull towards indifference and apathy.
- When you try to have peace, you will always find anxiety and agitation opposing your peace.
- In verse 16 He says, “Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”
- When you let the Holy Spirit guide your life you become more Salty!
- The Holy Spirit gives you flavor!
- You will be distinct!
- This is something that you will have to fight every day of your Christian life
- Romans 12: 2 says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
- Learning God’s will and way is not a one-time decision; it is a daily decision!
- Every day, let God transform your mind, will, and emotions by trusting Him and relying on the Spirit of God!
- In Matthew 5: 13 Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth…”
- Not, you should “try to be” or “work towards being”!
- He says, “You Are the Salt”
- You need to know who you are and behave like, who you are.
- When you know who you are, you know who you are not!
- Be Salt!
- Have a great Tuesday!

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

- One of the big differences I have noticed at the hotels in Uganda is their water.
- When you turn the water on, whether it’s the shower or the sink, there’s no regulator for the heat.
- When you put it on hot, it gets really hot!
- I almost burned myself the first day!
- In America, we have a thermostat that regulates our hot water heater.
- It’s a good thing physically but not so good spiritually
- The apostle Paul tells us to keep our spiritual fervor!
- That means, let your heart burn for Jesus!
- Be passionate for Jesus!
- Too many times we are worried about how we sound or how we appear to others.
- We have a spiritual regulator.
- We don’t want people to think that we are one of those “Crazy Christians!”
- We believe that we have to “tone it down”
- We think that a “Nice Christian” is the way to go.
- But “Nice” Christians don’t change the world!
- Other Christians will tell you to Not be to radical!
- When asked, what is the greatest commandment, Jesus said , “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” (Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭30‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
- All means All and that’s All that All can mean!
- He doesn’t say “some” or “Most”
- He says All!
- That sounds like spiritual fervor to me!
- When I see these Ugandan’s worship, it brings something out in me!
- There is no holding back!
- They don’t care what anybody thinks!
- They don’t even care if the pitch is perfect!
- They just passionately worship the Lord!
- That’s one of the reasons that I come here!
- I’m not just to help them and bring the gospel to them, I’m helping myself!
- I’m lighting the fire once again
- Please take notice if your spiritual fire begins to go out!
- This is a day to live all out for Jesus wherever you are!
- Show the world around you, the fire that Burns inside of you!
- Have a great weekend!
