Did it sneak up on you again? The 4th of July is next week. You aren't alone! Today, I'll start sharing some things we can do to help prepare your dog over the next few days for the sky going boom! Nothing can replace teaching our dogs fireworks aren't the end of the world, but we can still help them. For starters, start today playing NOISE, MARK, TREAT. We all drop things in the house, shut doors too loudly, scuffle our feet, have fridges that drop ice, microwaves that ding, and more. Start paying attention to these. When NOISE happens, MARK it with a word, then offer your pup a TREAT. You don't have to mark every single noise, but leading into the 4th try to mark 20 a day. On the 4th, mark as many noises as possible. When the fireworks start, mark and treat often. If your dog stops taking treats, just keep the treats present. You'll still be creating a better association than he currently has!

Actually ABA-Lee I only pay what I like, so all that other stuff you try just isn’t necessarily stuff I want! I like that you keep trying little girl cause you get it right more often than not!

Learn from My Mistakes: The insides of beds are easy to rip. So, when I wash the bed, I usually put the insides where Diesel can’t reach them. But I messed up and put it on a short table.

Diesel had a party. . Where there is no fear of the consequences, there is no guilt on the face.

In the future I’ll be more careful and I’ll continue to work on going to mat as the default behavior for certain rooms I want to be chill zones. Doesn’t mean he can’t have fun in those rooms, just that fun should be with me!
