Coaches we have to talk with our athletes. Get to know them. Remember, they’re people before they’re athletes.

Respect the person.
Gain understanding of the person.

This is only part of the conversation. I told the athlete I wouldn’t post the rest - which was much more personal and a lot more vulnerable.

What was interesting was the increased energy and positive vibes towards the exercises after finding out what we were actually accomplishing.
