We welcome Dr. ShamRA Robinson to Decatur as Deputy City Manager 👋

Dr. Robinson comes to Decatur from Peoria, IL where she served as the Director of Community Engagement & Public Relations for the Greater Peoria transportation district. She has more than 22 years of experience in local government.

She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, a master's degree, and a PhD in organizational leadership (psychology) from Columbia International University. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives focused on workforce, community, and economic development, managed a community-wide 311-style service system, overseen elements of public transportation, including fixed route operations and paratransit service, customer service, and directed strategic planning efforts.

Dr. Robinson will start her new position in Decatur on Monday, July 27, 2026.

2026 Waterfowl Hunting Blind Waiting List 🦆

We are establishing the annual waiting list for waterfowl hunting blinds. We will accept names for the new waiting list on a first-come, first-serve basis starting July 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at https://decaturil.gov/201/Docks-Boats-Duck-Blinds Registration will close at the end of this month.

The new list does NOT impact hunters who pay their annual blind permit fees on time.

Persons on the new waiting list will be contacted if there are blinds available due to hunters not paying their annual permit fees by the due date. We will establish a new waiting list each year to give waterfowl hunters a more equitable way to obtain permits.
