Please join us in congratulating the members of Mud Tavern Volunteer Fire & Rescue, along with participants from Neel Volunteer Fire Department and Trinity Fire and Rescue and Trinity Police Department on successfully completing and passing the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course through the Alabama Fire College!

An Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) is trained to provide immediate lifesaving care during the critical first minutes of an emergency. EMRs are equipped to assess patients, perform CPR, control bleeding, manage airways, use an AED, and provide essential care until an ambulance arrives or care can be transferred to a higher level of medical provider. For first responders, this training can make the difference in saving a life when every second counts.

This class also represents an important milestone for our department. Our department set a goal of ensuring all operational members of Mud Tavern Volunteer Fire & Rescue are trained to at least the EMR level, strengthening our ability to provide emergency care and better serve our community.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the course! Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to continuing your education will have a lasting impact on the people we serve. Thank you to the Alabama Fire College for providing this outstanding training, and congratulations again to all of our newest EMRs!

Governor Kay Ivey has issued a flag-lowering directive in honor of U.S. Wildland Fire Service Firefighter Sydney Kathryne Watson of Corner, Alabama.

Watson dedicated her career to protecting our nation’s forests and natural resources through wildland fire management. She tragically lost her life alongside two fellow firefighters while battling the Knowles Fire in Western Colorado on June 27, 2026.

Flags on the grounds of the State Capitol Complex in Montgomery and statewide should be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the date of Watson’s interment.
