Let's Get Decatur A Dog Park
Hang tight guys! Still waiting on approval for a location from the City of Decatur Parks Board and City Council (or rather FEMA). The Decatur Parks Board ensures me that they are indeed in favor of a dog park. They are working diligently to find us a location. The two proposed ideas were a FEMA parcel near Kekionga Park and the backup was 8th Street by the new police station. A FEMA property will likely fall through as we would need approval 3 ways from the Maumee River Council, the City of Decatur, and the Federal Government, which could take years for the paperwork to go through (which would likely be denied at that point). 8th Street is a residential location and the Board of Works and City Council did not seem keen on that idea. We are currently brainstorming new ideas. I personally believe Kekionga (in the back right corner near the River Greenway Trail) would be the best bet because the only approval necessary would be via the Decatur Parks Board.
Our apologies that you haven’t heard from us in a while.
We have been meaning to meet with the parks and recreation department for updates, but the April meeting was unavailable for us due to them meeting at another location.
Stay tuned please!

Hey dog lovers, we had a great meeting with the Parks Board last week and wanted to share some good news. We have come to an agreement to move forward with the park and we are just about ready to start accepting donations! Stay tuned to the page, we will have detailed information on how and when you will be able to make a donation. For those of you that pledged a donation, we will begin to start to contacting you in the next week or two. Thank you all for the support!
