We are so behind on updates, but here is the biggest piece of news. As many of you know, on September 19, 2011, we lost our fearless leader Dr. Paul Fernhoff suddenly and unexpectedly. It was unbelievable to go from the happy afterglow of the Duck race with Dr. Fernhoff's winning duck victory dance to the news of his sudden death. He is sorely missed and daily mourned. Dr. Fernhoff's son has created a wonderful web memorial for sharing at http://www.rememberpaulfernhoff.com/ . Visit here to laugh, cry, share, and remember. Plans (and fundraising) is underway to honor Dr. Fernhoff through naming a hospice room at the Atlanta hospice center AND create a endowment fund at Emory to honor him. To allevate any worries, the Emory L*DC still is still here and working hard as a care center and resource for patients with L*Ds. We have a wonderful team of experienced physicans, genetic counselors, nurses, and psychologists here to carry on Dr. Fernhoff's legacy.
