Today, we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and the shared values that bring our communities together.

At New Life Community Alliance, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our neighbors, strengthen families, and help create pathways to opportunity throughout South DeKalb. As you gather with family and friends this Fourth of July, we hope you take time to relax, reflect, and enjoy the holiday.

As we celebrate our nation's independence, we wish you and your family a safe and joyful holiday weekend.

Please note that NLCA will be closed this weekend, and no programs or services will be operating during this time. We will resume normal operations next week. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and look forward to continuing that work when we return.

: From Homelessness to Honors

When Rhonda Kay Sims-Thomas walked across the stage at Clayton State University this spring, she wasn't just receiving a diploma. She was proving that circumstances do not define a person's future.

After losing her job and experiencing homelessness, Rhonda refused to give up on her dream of higher education. While balancing housing insecurity, a full course load, and an internship with the Clayton County District Attorney's Office, she maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Pre-Law.

During her final semester, Rhonda sought emergency shelter at New Life Community Alliance while continuing to pursue her goals. Today, she has been accepted into Georgia State University's master's program and is preparing for the LSAT as she works toward her dream of becoming the first attorney in her family.

Her journey is a powerful reminder that resilience, determination, and community support can change the trajectory of a life.

Please join us in congratulating Rhonda on this incredible achievement. We are honored to have been part of her journey and can't wait to see what comes next.
