Druid Hills Charter Cluster Survey: Please Respond by Monday, 4/22
HEY - Anyone who follows Georgia Lege or who cares about historic preservation in Georgia: CRITICAL THAT WE DEFEAT THIS MEASURE!! THANK YOU!!!
This year several attempts have been made to amend the Georgia Historic Preservation Enabling Legislation to prohibit regulation of subdivision of historic districts by historic preservation commissions. House Bill 802 was introduced and committee hearings were held. Strong testimony against this legislation was heard, and the bill died in committee. Last week the language from HB 802 was inserted in HB 728 and fortunately the added language was not accepted by the Senate Committee.
PLEASE ACT NOW IF YOU KNOW ANY OF THESE LEGISLATORS
This offensive language has been put into HB 129 which is a State Bar bill. If any of our network knows Representative Stephen Allison from Blairsville, Representative Mike Jacobs from Brookhaven, Senator Jesse Stone from Waynesboro, Senator Johnny Grant from Milledgeville or Senator Tim Golden from Valdosta, please contact them as soon as possible and ask them to remove this historic district subdivision language from the bill.

An on-target op-ed from respected DeKalb community leader Ernest Brown. Vote YES on Tuesday to keep improving our schools. We're not sure why the promo photo the Murphy/Stiller flick accompanies it...although we're big fans of Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller. We bet they'd encourage you to vote YES too!
Should voters approve SPLOST for schools? Yes | ajc.com To have a world-class work force, we need to provide a world-class educational experience for students in world-class facilities.
Early voting is happening today and tomorrow, 8:30am-4:00pm, 4380 Memorial Drive (side entrance), but not Monday. Let's keep our students and teachers in great, safe spaces, and our property taxes down. Go early vote or make sure you make it to the polls on Tuesday!

This is what we're talking about, DeKalb. Standing up, dusting off, and forging ahead in smart, excellent ways. This is a new day, with parents, professionals, and better yet, all who downright care -- who are standing shoulder-to-shoulder and making sure everything's done right this time. It's nice to know that from diligence, cooperation, and an open mind, we can get where we want to be. Atkinson is knocking it out of the park so far. Like Hank Aaron admonishes: In life, swing for the fences. Gather up folks, that's what we're doing, and the result will be great.
Don't forget to keep our facilities and technology on par with the counties that DeKalb competes with nationally for employer relocations and other economic development. If we stop caring for and improving our facilities, we're out of the game in terms of job growth. That's not what Atlanta's about. We should be the place people and employers want to call home. Vote YES for the School SPLOST, either early or...
