First step to child abuse prevention is awareness Awareness is the most important step in preventing child abuse, according to experts.

This week is National Home Visiting Week. So our final feature of "Spotlight on Prevention" is reserved for our 5th program.

No child is born with an instruction manual, yet the stakes are high since children under the age of 5 are the most vulnerable to abuse. In fact, in Alabama, nearly 40% of child abuse happens before the child is 5.

That's where PAT steps in to help change the narrative. Their home visitation program partners with parents to provide the tools needed to promote optimal development and build positive interactions.
