Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Conference
In Preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

As-Salāmu ʿAlaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh,

The African & Immigrant Communities of America (AIC), Inc., in collaboration with the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction, under the leadership of Mayor Andre Dickens, and the City of Clarkston, under the leadership of Mayor Beverly H. Burks, cordially invite all community members, faith leaders, nonprofit organizations, youth leaders, educators, parents, and concerned residents to participate in a very important Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Conference. As Metro Atlanta prepares to welcome the world during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it is essential that our communities become informed, vigilant, and united in protecting vulnerable individuals from the growing threat of human trafficking.

This free public training will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Clarkston Women’s Club, 3913 Church Street, Clarkston, Georgia 30021. Participants will learn how to recognize the warning signs of human trafficking, understand how traffickers operate, identify available community resources, and learn practical steps to report suspicious activities and support victims. This training is designed to empower communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to help prevent exploitation and protect our families and neighborhoods.

For many years, AIC, Inc. has worked closely and collaboratively with past and present city, county, state, and federal government officials, community organizations, law enforcement agencies, faith institutions, and civic leaders in service to our diverse communities. We encourage everyone to attend this important event, which is offered free of charge, and to help spread the word among family members, friends, neighbors, and community networks. We sincerely commend and appreciate the dedicated Sunni and Sufi brothers and sisters who thoughtfully produced this timely and much-needed revival of Qasidat al-Burda in a style accessible to today’s generation.

These beautiful 1–6 Burda presentations—carefully arranged with accurate text, clear recitation, and uplifting modern rhythm—offer a meaningful bridge between sacred tradition and the realities of our time. By combining the timeless words of Imam al-Busiri with engaging, clean, and youth-friendly artistic expression, they have provided our children and young people with something both spiritually nourishing and culturally relevant.

At a time when so many of our youth are constantly exposed to harmful and distracting forms of music, this effort stands as a powerful alternative: rooted in love of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, grounded in Sunni tradition, and delivered in a style that speaks to the ears and hearts of the modern generation.

The use of carefully balanced contemporary percussion and vibrant presentation—while preserving the sanctity and beauty of the Burda—offers a much-needed spiritual and artistic outlet for young Muslims seeking identity, beauty, rhythm, and reverence without compromising faith.

This is not merely performance.
This is da‘wah.
This is spiritual exposure.
This is cultural preservation.
This is love of the Messenger of Allah Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم made audible for a new generation.

The blessed Burda of Imam al-Busiri remains one of the most beloved and enduring poetic praises of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم in Islamic history. For centuries, it has softened hearts, awakened longing for the Messenger of Allah Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, inspired repentance, and strengthened love for the Prophetic way. Its beauty lies not only in its words, but in its power to reconnect hearts to mercy, adab, and sacred remembrance.

May Allah reward all those who contributed to this noble effort, accept it as sincere service to the Ummah, and make it a means of reviving love for the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم in the hearts of our youth and future generations.

Friday Khutbah/Sermons Summary | Masjid An-Nur | Metro Atlanta, it’s in English!

Topic: The Role of the Heart and the Danger of Envy (Hasad)

Today’s Friday Khutbah at Masjid An-Nur focused on the importance of protecting and purifying the heart, for the heart is the center of faith, sincerity, and action. When the heart is sound, the whole person is sound; and when it is corrupt, the entire body follows.

A major disease of the heart is hasad (envy)—a destructive sin that leads to hatred, ظلم, and division. The Khutbah reflected on how envy led Qābīl to kill his own brother Hābīl, and how jealousy drove the brothers of Prophet Yusuf (عليه السلام) to betray him and bring grief to their father. These stories remind us that many great sins begin with a corrupt heart.

The Prophet ﷺ warned:

“Beware of envy, for envy consumes good deeds just as fire consumes wood.”
(Sunan Abi Dawud, 4903)

Envy destroys reward, poisons relationships, and weakens faith. Its cure is gratitude, sincerity, du‘a for others, and purification of the soul.

The Khutbah also highlighted the famous warning of the Prophet ﷺ:

“You will be many, but like the foam of the sea… and Allah will cast weakness into your hearts.”
It was asked: “What is that weakness?”
He said: “Love of the dunya and hatred of death.”
(Sunan Abi Dawud, 4297)

The weakness of the Ummah is not in numbers, but in the condition of the heart. The victories of Badr and Al-Andalus remind us that true strength was never in numbers or weapons alone, but in iman, courage, sincerity, and trust in Allah.

The Khutbah concluded with a reminder that the revival of the Ummah begins with the purification of the heart—freeing it from envy, arrogance, and love of dunya, and filling it with taqwa, humility, and sincerity.
