Hey Peeps! For those of you who are new here, I am Dr. Brentia Caldwell-Smith aka Dr. Tia! I am a Certified School Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, Professor, Chronic Illness Advocate, AND a Certified Medical Cannabis Professional! 😊

I rarely show my face on here…but hey, New Year, New Me! 🤭😉😜

Anyhoo, just dropping in to share a few personally-professional updates:

1. This past weekend I celebrated MY birthday AND The Up Center’s sixth anniversary! SIX WHOLE YEARS! I guess The UC is an Aquarius too! 🤭😂 ♒️♒️♒️

2. I have transitioned The Up Center back to a solo private counseling practice. It’s just ME ya’ll!

3. BUT…I am excited to re-open The Up Center’s internship program where we clinically house and support an emerging clinician through their practicum/internship experience! Applications will be available at upcentercounseling.com around March!

4. I have also transitioned The Up Center to prioritize the treatment of ADULT therapy clients navigating chronic illness, social & relational challenges, and life transitions.

5. On July 1st of this year, I will become a strictly self-pay therapist and no longer accept insurance. However, until then, I am still providing therapy services for individuals with United Healthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum, & Oscar. I will have limited spots of reduced rate openings too! 😊

6. I am now offering individual and group consultation services for clinicians seeking clinical support and community as we all navigate the ebs and flows of our field. Consultations can include reviewing tough clinical cases, professional development, resource building, etc.

7. I am also now offering immigration evaluations.

8. I have new openings for licensure supervision!

9. And for the first time in a LONG time, I am accepting new therapy clients!

The Up Center welcomes Kristin Anderson to the Team! Woop woop!

Kristin Anderson is an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor at The Up Center with a passion for helping people grow and thrive. She holds a BS in Psychology from Kennesaw State University and an MS in School Counseling from Mercer University, along with certifications as a School Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor.

Kristin is all about supporting individuals on their unique journeys—whether that’s managing stress, building social skills, or navigating life’s challenges. She works closely with teenage and adult clients, creating a safe, caring space where they can build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and move toward real change. Her approach is personal and solution-focused, and her ultimate goal is to help people feel more confident in who they are and where they’re headed.

Kristin is supervised by Brentia Caldwell, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, ACS, CPCS and accepts Aetna, Cigna, Humana, United Healthcare, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance as well as self-pay clients.
