Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo does not mark Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16th. Instead, it honors the Mexican army's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, during the Franco-Mexican War. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has transformed into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American communities.

Rep. Budzinski's Decatur Holiday party is this upcoming Tuesday, December 19th from 6:00 - 7:30pm at IBEW Local 146. We hope you will consider supporting and attending this event.
