As an Assistant Store Manager, you will assist the Store Manager in running the store. This means hiring, training, motivating and supervising staff. You’ll lead meetings, help the store meet its customer and donor satisfaction standards, maintain displays and merchandising presentations, ensure that any cash is handled as per policy and drive the store towards meeting or exceeding its budgeted financial performance. Ongoing training is provided. As you progress in your career you may be offered the opportunity to transfer to other stores.

What you need to know: This is not like other retail jobs. Sure, we work the same 45+ hour weeks and yes, we’re open all 7 days, but there’s more to it than that. Our products are gently donated items, items that need to be unpacked, sorted, displayed. It’s messy. It’s dusty. It can be cold in the winter, hot in the summer. The store manager needs to trust you to proactively address situations and resolve them. Thinking ahead and prioritizing are crucial skills here. You need to understand the in-store experience and be able to engage and motivate employees to deliver excellent customer service. We use computers, email, Microsoft Office every day. If you’re someone who can keep an eye on the big picture while addressing the day to day work in front of you, you’ll do really well here.

Requirements:

- 2+ years experience in supervision of 15 or more employees in food services, manufacturing, production or retail. Alternatively, one year of supervision experience with successful completion of Goodwill assigned training

- Or a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Retail, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, or Economics plus 1 year of supervisory experience in logistics, retail, warehouse, fast food, restaurants, B2B accounts, corporate/service industry or any other relevant industry.

- Or 4+ years of military service with one or more years of supervisory experience in lieu of either of the above

- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

- Demonstrated skills in operating personal computers, Previous POS or sell systems, and various software packages including MS office.

- A driver's license and dependable transportation and communication devices

Preferences:

- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
- Previous military experience

As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll be part of the store’s management team. You’ll supervise store personnel, open the store and be the keyholder/supervisor on duty. We want you to help train and coach the store associates, model how to greet and assist our donors/customers, help address complaints/challenges from the team, and keep an eye on the stores overall appearance/cleanliness. Ongoing training is provided. As you progress in your career you may be offered the opportunity to transfer to other stores.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Two or more years of experience in retail
Associates Degree or completion of related retail management course work preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferences:
Previous experience in retail, fast food or warehouse environments
Previous military or nonprofit experience
Bilingual language skills

As a Store Manager, you will supervise, manage and lead your store employees, typically 30-40 people. You will ensure that your team is meeting or exceeding their sales goals, managing the store’s budget and be the public “face” of the store to the local community. You will lead the hiring and training of new employees as well as supervise a team of Assistant Store Managers (ASM’s) and a Shift Supervisor.
You Will Also:

• Greet and assist donors/customers.
• Monitor and maintain the store’s overall appearance.
• Lead monthly meetings with store employees.
• Attend monthly meetings with your Director and other store managers.
• Maintain company records and reporting.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience supervising teams of 30 or more employees.
• A strong familiarity with developing budgets and creating plans to exceed financial expectations.
• A focus on maintaining and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• Demonstrated capacity to embrace change.
• Demonstrated decision making abilities.
• Experience with hiring and developing staff.
• Proficiency with the MS Office suite.
Preferences:
• An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business or a related subject
• Bilingual language skills
• Prior military or related not-for-profit experience
