In 1994, Mary Ellen Buxton and Kevin Kutch opened Pier Glass, a hot glass studio in Brooklyn, where they have collaboratively created blown and cut-glass sculptures, some of which are functional, ever since. Their designs are clean and deceptively simple, which allows them to explore their fascination with glass's ability to reflect, refract, and magnify light. Their work is included in national galleries, exhibitions, and private and public collections.

Leon Applebaum is one of the great colorists in the field of glass. Born in n 1945, Applebaum studied at Orrefor's Glass School in Sweden and later earned an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he began synthesizing Swedish glass techniques with his ideas about the color spectrum. He has produced an enormous and beloved body of work throughout his career. Born in 1950, William Carlson, with a career spanning decades, is widely considered one of the most influential figures in the studio glass movement.
