Work at Embry-Riddle

For 26 years, Antonio "Tony" Marques brought his lifelong passion for aviation to Embry-Riddle. From dreaming of airplanes as a child in Mozambique to building a career surrounded by them, Tony says working at Embry-Riddle has been "a true gift."
Throughout his career, Tony witnessed remarkable transformation, from the days of the hexagon buildings to the growth of the College of Aviation, College of Business, College of Arts & Sciences, Micaplex, Worldwide Campus, and so much more. But for Tony, the greatest reward wasn't the buildings, it was the people. He has found great joy in hiring student employees, watching them grow, and celebrating with them at graduation. He also cherished his time serving as an officer of the Eagle Flying Club and the friendships built along the way.
Looking back, Tony credits his team's dedication for the department's success and leaves behind simple but meaningful advice: embrace change, value teamwork, and "be kind and thankful every day."
Thank you, Tony, for 26 years of service, leadership, and heart. π¦

Last week, we kicked off our READY & Resilient series for employees!
A great group joined us in Prescott for the watch party, and we were thrilled to see so many colleagues tuning in virtually as well. Weβre looking forward to an inspiring series focused on growth, connection, and resilience across Embry-Riddle.

When Mark Sensmeier learned of an opening at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Prescott Campus 25 years ago, he knew it was the perfect opportunity to combine his passion for research with his desire to teach. What he didn't know at the time was that Prescott would also become the perfect place to raise a family and build a fulfilling career.
Throughout his time at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University , Mark has been inspired by exceptional leaders and colleagues who shared a commitment to student success. He credits mentors like Tracy Doryland, Dick Felton, Sarah Thomas, and Frank Ayers for helping shape both his career and the Prescott campus community.
One of the highlights of his career was leading the Aerospace Engineering department, but what continues to motivate him is the unique relationship Embry-Riddle builds with its students. Mark believes the university's focus on undergraduate education and preparing students for professional success is what truly sets it apart.
A fun fact many students may find surprising: despite being comfortable speaking to large groups, Mark considers himself an introvert at heart.
Thank you, Professor Sensmeier, for 25 years of leadership, mentorship, and dedication to the students and community that make Prescott so special. ππ¦
