Dear AFIT Family (Alumni, Faculty, Staff and Supporters),

The AFIT Spouses Association hosted its 16th annual ASPA Winter Ball on 31 January 2026.

Attendees enjoyed a catered dinner, specialty drinks, and dancing. Additionally, there were numerous raffle prizes from organizations such as Coopers Hawk Winery, Young’s Dairy, Cincinnati Reds, Harris Jewelers, and more.

The AFIT Foundation had the honor of sponsoring the majority of this elegant evening. Thank you to our members whose donations make Foundation Funding possible. In this issue, The AFIT Foundation recognizes Lieutenant Colonel Nancy Needham, Director of Worship Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City.

Lt Col Needham received her MS in Logistics Management from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technologyy (AFIT) in 1988. She joined the military as a way to follow in her father’s footsteps. She spent over 23 years in the Air Force with a career in transportation and logistics in positions ranging from air cargo specialist to chief of passenger policy at The Pentagon. She retired in 2000 as a Lieutenant Colonel and now works as the Director of Worship Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lt Col Needham’s favorite memory at AFIT was the daily teamwork involved. Her experience at AFIT helped her develop a systems approach to all her work.

When asked about what advice she would give to those considering entering the military, Lt Col Needham says to give it a try. Thank you, Lieutenant Colonel Nancy Needham!
