Read the signs on the wall!

Often times we go all in on our jobs, give our best as we should, but often times we neglect ourselves and family in the process. The harsh realities of a business is the main aim is to make a profit, all else are contingencies. You are a means to your boss teaching their financial goals. Never neglect yourself or your family overworking or overexerting to please your boss or earn brownie points.
You are replaceable and should they decide to restructure you are always among the cards on the table to go. Now you may notice that you are favorited and that everyone loves you at work( most times they really do’your lil ’work family). They love especially that you will work an extra hour or two. That they can count on you to work anytime or be on call throughout the weekends. The moment you self care or choose to or ask to be compensated, your being put on the naughty list or the next coworker seeking favor is now chosen over you for promotions etc.
Learn to read your workplace signs. Know when things are going awry. A lecturer while I was in college once said ‘never be too comfortable in a position unless you’re the boss, always seek better!’ When I worked in corporate I saw where they had a high turnover and losing accounts, despite doing my very best and meeting daily quotas and sometimes exceeding it, I was laid off. My blunder was I was so comfortable and never thought that because I was doing so well that I wouldn’t be ‘let go’. Unless you’re your own boss you are irreplaceable. Read the signs, know when you’re service is being depleted or when you’re about to be replace.
