Drain pans, sometimes called "condensate or drip pans," found beneath refrigerators, humidifiers, and portable air-conditioners can become a garden of mold, bacteria, and algae if not emptied regularly. In addition, they may rust and be unusable. If you have a drip pan that has seen better days, replace it with a new one.

On average, about 15% of American households have two refrigerators, but in many cases the second refrigerator is a much older model. These households can save on energy usage though by updating to one newer and more energy efficient refrigerator.

Appliances make up a large part of our home investment. As such, we should make proper use of them, clean them regularly, and pay attention to any maintenance schedules that need to be followed.

The first electric refrigerator was offered for sale in 1913, and within a few years, an improved version, called the "Guardian Frigerator," was released to the market. In 1918, GM decided to buy the Guardian company and change the name to Frigidaire.
