The Ace building behind Woodstocks is coming down!
Be aware of traffic delays!
The former Ace Hardware site at 240 G Street, adjacent to the G Street parking lot, is slated to become housing and is moving through the City's process.
Starting June 28, builders will perform some work inside the building as well as removing sections of the roof and will lend the vacant building out to the Davis Fire Department for some drills the week of July 20.
Starting the week of July 28, the developer will demolish the 240 G St. building.
The City and developer will start outreach soon with nearby neighbors and businesses to discuss the job impacts. The demolition project is scheduled to last about 60 work days.
Take note of the haul route map that shows the route the trucks will take from the site to the landfill using Third St., Second St. and L St. Please expect more truck traffic on this route.
Please be advised that during the demolition, the sidewalk on Third Street directly alongside the building that extends from the alley behind Woodstock’s Pizza to H Street will be closed to pedestrian traffic intermittently while demolition activities are in close proximity to the public right of way.
This closure is required to maintain a safe distance between pedestrians and demolition activities and should not be needed for more than a total of 10 days. Pedestrians will need to cross at the intersection of Third and G Streets to the opposite side of Third Street, enabling a detour around this sidewalk closure during these intermittent closures.
Access to the G Street parking lot will remain the same however several parking spaces will be closed while work is occurring.
There will be no changes to the G Street Plaza area or the closed portion of G Street during this work.
