K9 Roots Dog Training
Same dog. Same expectations. Different tools š„
Itās not the tool. Itās the training behind it.
This is the level I expect with all my dogs! PM āHEELā if your dog needs this!
Socialization is one of the most important things for young puppies. It doesnāt mean letting them meet every dog or person. It means safely and positively exposing them to new sights, sounds, people, and environments so they learn the world isnāt scary.
The key is keeping experiences calm, positive, and at the puppyās pace so they build confidence instead of fear.
Maven has been a great example of this, taking in new experiences and learning how to navigate the world with confidence.

āļø Does your dog hate grooming?
Youāre not alone - and it doesnāt have to be this hard.
We are partnering with K9 Roots Dog Training who will be offering a grooming-specific training course designed for dogs who struggle with the grooming process. This isnāt about forcing them through it ā itās about confidence, trust, and cooperation.
š°All current clients who graduate from this course will receive $25 off your next 2 grooms with me. All waitlisted clients will recieve the same offer IF you become a client, but this does not guarantee you a spot.
Our training focuses on:
š¶ Confidence building
š¶ Desensitization to grooming tools & handling
š¶ Teaching calm, appropriate responses to pressure
Groomers use sharp tools on your pup, and when a dog is panicking, it can quickly become unsafe for everyone. Training helps reduce fear, stress, and risk ā making grooming a better experience for your dog and their groomer.
⨠Help me help your dog feel safer, calmer, and more comfortable during grooming.

This video is about nail trims, why theyāre crucial to a dogās health and reading body language during the process.
Nail trims are a very important part of a dogās overall health. Overgrown nails can cause pain, affect the way a dog walks, put stress on their joints, and even lead to injuries or long-term orthopedic issues. Keeping nails properly trimmed helps dogs move comfortably and confidently.
To many people, Lilly may appear āfineā or even happy in this video, but thatās not the full picture. You can see clear signs of stress: ears pinned back, heavy panting, lip licking, and her pulling her paw away. These are subtle but important signals dogs use to communicate discomfort.
I had never trimmed Lillyās nails before and didnāt know how she would respond. Before bringing out the clippers, we played and had fun to help set a positive tone. We were in an empty room with no distractions so she could focus and feel as comfortable as possible. I also go much slower than most people would during nail trims. If a dog moves while youāre clipping, itās very easy to hit the quick, which can cause bleeding and make the experience far more stressful for the dog. Going slow helps keep them safe and builds trust. During the nail trim, I talked to her the entire time, stopped after each nail, and gave praise and breaks to keep things as low-stress as possible. The leash was on to help maintain control and ensure safety if needed.
This isnāt about forcing compliance, itās about understanding the dog in front of you, meeting them where they are, and building trust. Lilly is currently boarding with me for a few days, and this is just one step in helping her feel more comfortable with necessary handling like nail trims.
If you have any training needs, feel free to message me. I offer individual training sessions, dog sitting, and board-and-train programs
