**Every great assessment starts with the basics.** 🩺
Our EMT students focused on two fundamental skills in prehospital care: **obtaining accurate vital signs** and **administering oxygen therapy**.
A blood pressure isn't just a number. A pulse tells a story. Respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, skin signs, and lung sounds all help paint the picture of what's happening with a patient. Learning to recognize those clues—and knowing when oxygen is indicated—is a critical part of becoming an EMT.
In this lab, students practiced:
🩺 Manual blood pressure measurement
❤️ Pulse assessment and heart rate
🫁 Respiratory assessment, pulse oximetry, and lung sounds
😷 Oxygen delivery using a nasal cannula and non-rebreather mask
🤝 Patient communication while performing assessments
These are the skills EMTs use on every shift, with every patient. Building confidence now means providing better care when every second counts.
Great job by our EMT students!
