While visiting a local restaurant I ran into a solution for the hand dryer protruding from the wall more than 4" by providing a horizontal grab bar under it. ADA requires that elements located in circulation spaces comply with Protruding Objects. (307 Protruding Objects)

ADA requires that dispensers not overlap the required water closet clearance unless they are associated with the use of it (604.3.2). Loose trash cans are not required to comply, but they should not be located within the clearance area.
