Known for its comprehensive commitment to survivors of family violence, The Family Place offers secure housing and counseling to vulnerable families. The Southside Rec Center at Texas A&M was selected as AIA Houston's Design Award Winner in the Greater Than 50K SF Category. With 63,500 SF of indoor and 15,000 SF of outdoor space, complete with two multi-sport courts, a bouldering wall, turf areas and multiple fitness rooms, the Southside Rec Center gives Aggies another place for recreation and wellness.

JQ proudly provided structural engineering services on the SmithGroup-led team. We celebrate this accomplishment with all who contributed to making the Southside Rec Center a reality.

Jennifer Ridd is a trailblazer in structural engineering, dedicating her career to empowering others through mentorship, networking and equality initiatives. Jennifer possesses a track record of excellence in project management and structural engineering across diverse sectors, including education, aviation, healthcare, recreation, culture and commerce. With a rich history of delivering innovative solutions to address critical life-safety and time-sensitive design challenges, she skillfully balances design aesthetics with practical, constructible, and budget-conscious engineering solutions.

In a male-dominated industry, she champions a culture of collaboration and support, fostering teamwork that transcends competition. Her passion extends to inspiring young talent to enter the engineering profession, evident through her commitment to ACE Mentoring since the start of her career and currently serves as a board member for the organization.

Clients value Jennifer for her direct communication; one of her strengths lies in anticipating and resolving challenges that benefit all stakeholders. As a somewhat unicorn “people person” in an engineering context, she excels at mentoring emerging professionals and bridging communication gaps between clients and team members while empathetically understanding their needs.

She is also a forward-thinker who eagerly anticipates the transformative influence of the post-Covid generation on the A/E industry. She recognizes the potential for Gen Z to challenge outdated norms and bring fresh perspectives to the industry's traditions. Outside of her professional pursuits, Jennifer enjoys the thrill of travel and the competitive spirit of tennis.
