On why I picked She's Homeless by Crystal Waters as the intro song for our performance:

It was the 90's in a club in Austin. Crystal Waters was performing. I was there with my boyfriend and his best friend, Travis. The boyfriend was gone a few months later - he wasn't very nice. Travis, however, was a beautiful human and became one of my closest friends.

50's me is stepping back into the joy and freedom I felt that night. So why not use it to conjure new beginnings?

Writing gave me my voice back. My body hasn't caught up.

It still feels discombobulated and stiff; like it can't figure out which way is left and right or up and down or how to release.

Last night's performances called spirit back to me and helped my body felt whole again, even if for a little while.
