LUNGevity joins our cancer patient advocacy partners in issuing the statement below regarding Medicaid "community engagement" requirements and the impact that new rules could have on people living with cancer. The statement is in response to the interim final rule (IFR) released by CMS earlier this week that provides guidance to states on implementation of Medicaid changes in H.R.1. We are very concerned that the new requirements will jeopardize critical healthcare coverage for eligible individuals by imposing unnecessary administrative barriers.
We urge CMS and state Medicaid programs to prioritize protections for patients living with medical conditions including cancer and to minimize unnecessary documentation and verification requirements to ensure that patients continue receiving the life-saving care that they need.

As Lung Cancer Hope Month comes to an end, we are excited to celebrate three courageous survivors who give us hope to accomplish amazing things after a lung cancer diagnosis.
Last year, Michelle and her daughter, Rachel, joined Team LUNGevity as spectators. This year, they are participating in their first race, the William A. Irvin 5K!
Caitlin participated in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon last year with Team LUNGevity while her husband, Tommy, and their three kids cheered her on. This year, Tommy will come off the sidelines to join Caitlin as they both take on the full marathon as part of Team LUNGevity!
Marie is taking on Grandma's Marathon as her fifth marathon since her diagnosis and lobectomy. Almost 6 years cancer free, Marie is a passionate advocate raising awareness with every mile. Congratulations to Marie for being our top fundraiser for the 2026 Grandma's Marathon team!
Join us in celebrating these three amazing survivors raising lung cancer awareness and pushing the boundaries of what you can do living with lung cancer.
