Do you know the impact of naming feelings on the brain?

"Affect labeling" is the simple act of naming your feelings out loud. It activates our Prefrontal Cortex ("wise leader) allowing more logical, rational thinking and calms the Amygdala ("security guard") that is the brain's warning system.

With better emotional regulation, you can learn to respond instead of react. You will make better decisions and not "flip your lid" while reducing the intensity of the emotions by allowing them to flow and inform us of what we need. This self-awareness is empowering. Can you imagine growing up with these skill sets?
