Too many times I’ve walked into a home, only to receive a big sloppy kiss and heavy paws clawing at my clothes. Guess who the leader is in this family? Dogs need structure with a pet parent who is the indisputable leader. When a dog is allowed to be the leader of the pack, they tend to be loud, unruly and aggressive. Take charge by feeding your dog at the same time twice a day - morning and night (puppies need to eat more often). A predictable meal schedule helps your pup be their best with easier housebreaking and prevention of separation anxiety. Regular schedules let your pooch know what to expect and when. Add more structure to their routine (or security in your dog’s view) by having your pup wait politely and patiently while you prepare their “feast.” No one likes a pushy or hyper dog when there’s food around. Help your pup be a happy member of the family and your family will be happier for it.
