"Red" here is looking for a new home. He was dumped on my property last week, and I've had no luck finding his owners. He is absolutely the BEST dog and I am baffled how he ended up here. He was better behaved than my dogs in the car and at the vet. 🙈
Details (these are all based on my limited experience with him, fyi):
Approx. 3 - 5 yrs old
Intact Male (castration scheduled for Monday)
Approx. 55lbs
Pros:
Walks on a leash fairly well
Appears to be very kennel trained, has not had an accident
LOVES to be with you, ride in the UTV
Doesn't run off, sleeps on the porch
Gets along well with female dogs
Appears very cat friendly (doesn't even acknowledge them)
Appears to be livestock friendly, has not chased anything
Would love to be with someone who hikes, bikes, trail runs, hunts
Very, very athletic and very fast (runs alongside the UTV at 35 mph)
Doesn't jump on you, isn't pushy
Excellent in the car and for the vet
Cons:
Barks in the kennel if he can see or hear you (been very good outside the kennel, quiet if he can't see/hear you)
Has some resource guarding toward other dogs (feeding him separately, has not shown guarding toward me) and separation anxiety (understandable, when your people chunk you out of a car and drive off)
Can climb out of chain-link fencing - will either need a farm situation (he's been fine just loose) or a yard with solid fencing
Unknown if he is good with small dogs or children.
UTD on all vaccinations as of 10/8/24, and microchipped.
Please note Red is heartworm POSITIVE. Very low titer, received his first ProHeart shot 10/8/24, will need another in 6 months.
Small rehoming fee to contribute to his shots, neuter, HW treatment and microchip.
This is a SUPER GOOD DOG. Deserves the best home.
Willing to deliver or meet someone.

"Red" here is FREE to a good home. He was dumped on my property last week, and I've had no luck finding his owners. He has a vet appointment in the morning for a basic exam, and hopefully will be cleared to have castration surgery. ✂️✂️✂️
Details (these are all estimates and based on my limited experience with him, fyi):
Approx. 5-7 yrs old
Intact Male (hopefully not for long)
Approx. 50-60lbs

Doesn't run off, sleeps on the porch

I'm having to keep him separated from my male Aussie as he isn't keen on another male dog on his "turf," so Red needs to find a home ASAP. Unknown if he is good with small dogs or children. All the shelters are full to capacity, and he needs to find a home as soon as possible.
Willing to deliver or meet someone. Will update after he's seen the vet tomorrow.
Please share with anyone that might have a rescue, foster home, really anything. It's not fair to him to keep him locked up all day, but for his safety and my dog's safety, it's required.

Second trip to Nola in as many weeks. Stayed at the LOVELY hotel. One of the best hotels in the city - amazing location, quiet, private, excellent food, amazing staff, beautiful pool, serene in-house spa. Highly recommend - it's a simple walk across Canal to the Quarter, so WAY less crowded and so quiet. Get the house made beignets, you will NOT be sorry. And you can room service them at 3 am....
for the best craft cocktail happy hour in the Quarter, no contest. $5 cocktails, including champagne 🍾
Sazerac Bar in The Roosevelt for espresso martinis and real whiskey sours. Not cheap, but worth it.
for some crab bisque and shrimp creole lessons
for my favorite lemon parm salad and gumbo
for tableside caesar salad and more gumbo 😂
And yes, we stopped and got hand grenades at
Two weeks before, in the tradition of eating and drinking our way through Nola:
